what is it?

  • Hire a quad bike to go where nothing else goes.

why go?

  • Their motto’s Rent Me Love Me and we’re good with that.
  • Where to go? Go anywhere. That’s the point.
  • Run up cross country and seaside miles, fuel costs next to nothing.

when is it?

  • year round hire, including delivery and pick-up (very cool service).
  • we went for a 150cc atv at €74 for 30 hours, insurance included.

  • anyone who doesn’t mind helmet hair.

VOLCANO HORSE RIDING

what is it?

  • Horseback tours of a hidden Santorini where the roads don’t always go.

why go?

  • Guides are kindly to riders, even kinder to horses. Your conscience is clear.
  • Ride vineyards, volcanic landscapes and beaches without leaving a trace.
  • Low on impact, big on views. Fuel up on food first. Don’t forget SPF and plenty water.

when is it?

  • open year round, 8am to 9pm.
  • we took the two hour tour (€90 per person). saddle-sore but so worth it.

  • anyone at all (even inexperienced riders).

EASTER IN SANTORINI

what is it?

  • A calm, candle-centric Semana Santa, with no hooded penitents.

why go?

  • Pyrgos sparks up candles and fires on rooftops for Good Friday. Sounds enchanting, is enchanting.
  • Catch at least one candlelit procession – take your pick, they’re everywhere.
  • Don’t miss Saturday fireworks at Fira. Book an island restaurant for an Easter Sunday feast.

when is it?

  • take the date of western easter, jump forward a week, that’s greek easter.
  • it’s still a moveable feast, so check the calendar carefully.

who to go with?

  • friends, family and soulful sorts.
