We fell in love with this beautiful island for it’s secluded beaches, red hot sunsets and it’s awesome nightlife. It’s nowhere near as popular as the other well known Thailand islands and it’s still full of so much charm.

TIPS

GENERAL

white sands beach area is extremely touristy - so watch out before booking there
there are ATMs on the island, but most ATMs charge a 220THB (~£5) fee, so get out as much as you need in one go
our favourite beach is klong kloi beach - least touristy & most beautiful

GETTING AROUND

hire a scooter - expect to pay from 200thb per day - all contacts are in our guide
flag down a songthaew (a pick up truck) and pay per person they'll take you wherever you need
you can't go from the south of the island to the east as there is no road, so make sure you set off driving around the island from the north

WHERE TO STAY

lazy republique is a great place to stay on the island - the owners are great and the rooms are clean and cheap
lonely beach is a backpacker haven, a sleepy village by day and a party strip by night - we loved the area and everyone is really friendly
bang bao bay is the best location in our opinion - check out indie beach bungalows if you choose this area
