our favourite area by far was tsakalof street in kolonaki where crowds spill out onto the streets by the bars - and the buzz is magical day or night
for the perfect sunset and city views, head up to filopappou hill and your breath will be taken away
when visiting the acropolis, make sure you get a guide otherwise it isn't clear what you are seeing up there

GETTING AROUND

walk everywhere, it's the best place to discover the city and find backstreet undiscovered places. check out the experiences page for the walking tour recommendation
uber works here but the app calls the yellow taxi, so flag one down on the street and if you struggle then use uber
airport fares are fixed (day - €40 and night - €54) all the other fares are on meter and are super cheap

WHERE TO STAY

plaka and koukaki are the best neighbourhoods that are a 12min walk to the town centre but also far out enough to get away from the crowds
kolonaki is a gorgeous area where a lot of locals live. here you'll find boutique shops, cute restaurants and local bars Previous
monasteriki area is great for living right in town, but be aware you will be in and amongst the crowds here and the streets aren't as nice as the other areas
