  • the garlic and pepper chicken is delicious and so cheap.
  • definitely check this place out for lunch if you’re in the area.

A Ee Wan Yen

  • a great place to try a traditional type of dessert – sweet mee chinese dessert.
  • you can try the noodle dessert hot and cold.
  • there aren’t many places serving this anymore – so make sure you save this location and head down!
  • closing timings vary, so try your luck during the day as you’re more likely to get there before they close.

  • choose your instant noodles from the endless shelves from countries around the world and let the staff help you use the instant noodle machine.

The House of Smooth Curry

  • despite this restaurant being tucked away in the 5 star Athenee Hotel, it really is a hidden gem
  • it’s nothing like the delicious authentic food you’ll find on the streets, but if you’re looking for something cleaner and fancier, this is the place!
  • the ambience is great and the flavours are delicious
  • our favourite is the yellow chicken curry!

Pang Pang Toast

  • delicious freshly toasted buns stuffed with various fillings.
  • the pandan custard and nutella are delicious.
  • if you’re feeling daring enough, give the chilli filling a go…
  • 25 THB for 1 – they’re a great way to curb the burning spicy thai food!

  • near one of the busiest areas, khao san road, you’ll find this amazing street side joint!
  • the food is super cheap (considering the area), really delicious.
  • great service & really attentive and all the food is made fresh.
  • green curry and tom yum soup were delicious!

Everyday Moo Krata & Cafe

  • a beautiful setting over 2 floors, with open air seating.
  • delicious and really clean mookata.
  • on the expensive side (around 600THB/£14 for 2 people) however you are paying for the atmosphere and higher quality place.

Kuay Teow Khae

  • you’ll find the BEST noodles in bangkok here.
  • a street food dining set up on the side of the road.
  • busy every single day, make sure you get here by 12pm!
  • MUST try the Signature Special Bowl with Yaki Soba Noodles – only 70 baht (£1.65).
  • super spicy and the free butterfly pea juice on the tables are also delicious!

Mu Kratha Heng Heng Korat

  • an unassuming local restaurant tucked away on a street corner near the Chao Praya River.
  • specialising in Mookata aka a hot pot with a grill in the centre where you cook your own meat/fish & stew your vegetables and noodles in a home made broth.
  • very cheap for the incredible flavour – 299thb/set for large – we had it for 2 people.
  • don’t expect a fancy restaurant, be prepared for full authentic vibes & make sure you bring cash.
